A combine harvester includes a rotatable reel 6 mounted between two supporting sides 8, (8<1>), Fig. 2 (not shown), part of each of which forms the top side of an articulated quadrilateral the other two sides being formed from link arm 12 and jack 11 which are capable of pivoting at 15, 16 about fixed parts of the combine harvester and a control system for deforming the quadrilateral and hence moving the reel forward or backward and simultaneously lowering or lifting it. As shown the movement of the quadrilateral is controlled through crank handle 21, universal joint 23, a worm 24 and a toothed sector 25 keyed to shaft 16. By operating the crank handle 21 the link arm rotates in the direction f1 and hence the pick-up reel moves along a curve such as a b c. In a. modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the movement of the quadrilateral is controlled by means of hydraulic jack (41). |
