A method of making a positive lineiform image having exactly the same pitch as a given lenticular screen through which the image is to be viewed to obtain a stereoscopic effect, comprises taking a test screen having a pitch different from that of the given screen, ascertaining the spacing of the moirÚ lines produced when the two screens are superimposed in alignment, and making the required image such that, when aligned with the test screen, it produces moirÚ lines having the same spacing. A sheet of sensitive photographic material may be exposed to the adjusted image to make a printing plate thereof. The image is preferably adjusted by being projected on to a screen at the plane of the test screen and the size thereof altered by varying the magnification of the projection system. The test screen may be made from a transparent material or on a reflecting support. To avoid confusion in obtaining the required pitch, the lineiform image is preferably compared with two test screens each having different pitches different from the pitch of the given screen, the image size being adjusted until it produces, with each test screen, the moirÚ spacing that the given screen produces therewith. A composite lineiform image, i.e. an image containing two or more lineiform images separately produced, may be prepared, the above method being used to ensure that images each have the same pitch. |
