A toluene diisocyanate product containing a substantial amount of polymeric isocyanates is prepared by reacting phosgene and toluene diamine in an inert organic solvent to produce a product containing toluene diisocyanate, polymeric isocyanates and said solvent, removing a major proportion of said solvent and heating the product for a period of at least ¢ hour at a temperature of at least 130‹ C. Apparatus for carrying out the process is described with reference to the drawing (not shown). |
