The centering system, especiallly for fitting a motor vehicle wheel (5) to a hub (1) consists of a projection (10) on the hub having first (11) and second (12) stepped cylindrical surfaces of different diameters. The larger diameter surface (11) receives the brake disc (3), while the smaller one, which receives the hole (4) in the wheel, has an elastic ring (15), e.g. of rubber, that sits in an annular groove in the hub and fits against a chamfered surface on the edge of the wheel hole. In a variant of the design the ring can be in a truncated conical shape.
