<p>The invention consists in using a tension membrane (1) in order to construct a walkway or bridge (or any other element which is subjected to a useful load and which is used to cross a bay). For this purpose, the aforementioned membrane is a load-bearing element, i.e. the membrane supports gravitational loads as well as loads associated with the deployment thereof, with limited deformability. More specifically, said membrane acts as a passage (or load) area or deck (4) and, thus, comprises lateral zones (2) which are used to transmit the load from the aforementioned deck to lateral support elements (6-7), the lateral edges of the membrane (1) and the high points (3) of said edges being fixed to the lateral support elements. In this way, the membrane is provided with a downward concave longitudinal profile and an upward concave transverse profile, i.e. two opposing curves in orthogonal directions. The membrane is adequately prestressed in order to allow circulation (or simple loading) thereon without significant deformations being produced.</p> |
