Pharmaceutical composition (A) containing oxcarbazepine (I) has the following in vitro release profile by the USP paddle method (USP 24, Method 724, App.2; in 1 l of 2 wt. % sodium dodecyl sulfate solution under stirring at 75 rpm): 55-85 (preferably 65-80) % of (I) released in 15 minutes, 75-95 (preferably 85-95)% in 30 minutes, 85-100 (preferably 90-100) % in 45 minutes and 90-100 (preferably 95-100) % in 60 minutes. Independent claims are included for the preparation of (A).
