The invention relates to a heat exchanger comprising a bundle of tubes (12), at least one collector (18) into which the tubes of the bundle open and a collector box (20), enclosing the collector. The collector (18) and the collector box (20) are formed by two half-shells, essentially symmetrical in form, with a common jointing plane (P) and having respective flat joints (22, 24) assembled following said jointing plane. The above finds application in heat exchangers for motor vehicles.
