The device has several inflatable tubes (10,11) and a cover (13). The tubes are flexible when inflated and form the cover into a chamber with an essentially non-expandable upper surface (15) to receive a person leaping onto the device. The chamber has at least one opening (16) to allow air to pass into and out of the chamber when the tubes bend, when a person lands on the upper surface and during recovery of its shape, so as to control bending and recovery. The device has an arrangement e.g. light sources (17,18) making the upper surface easy to see.
