[Also in Division H1] A catalyst electrode comprises a support made from carbon fibre or graphitized carbon fibre material which has been coated with pyrocarbon and to which a catalyst containing surface layer has been applied. In the example, the following surface layers were applied to the pyrocarbon coated support: a water-repellent priming layer of P.T.F.E., a layer of carbon and binder, a first catalyst layer of carbon, binder and catalyst, and a second catalyst layer of catalyst and binder. Pressure was applied to the composite body which was then sintered. |
