In a lift truck with variable range with at least three wheels and a telescopic arm (7), of the type comprising a steerable rear wheel (1) and two front wheels (2, 3), a driver station (5) and a motor propulsion group (9) secured to a chassis (4), the chassis (4) has as compact configuration and is elongated in the longitudinal direction of advance of the truck, and has safety means against the risk of loss of lateral stability; the safety means (11, 12) being adapted to oppose turning over of the truck.
