A hub unit with a sensor comprises a wheel-side raceway member (4), a vehicle body-side raceway member (5), a hub unit (1) having rolling bodies (6) in two rows, and a sensor device (2) provided in the hub unit (1). The sensor device (2) has a magnetostriction sensor (31) that is provided in the vehicle body-side raceway member (5) and detects reverse magnetostriction effect in the wheel-side raceway member (4), where the effect is produced by force that the wheel-side raceway member receives from the rolling bodies (6). The sensor (2) detects rotation from the number of repetition of distortional changes and detects from distortional amplitude the force acting on the wheel-side raceway member (4).
