The testing device (1) has at least one testing head (5) attached to the wheel or the wheel rim (2) in the radial direction and rotatable relative to the running surface (6) of the wheel or wheel rim, e.g. via a number of rollers (10) supporting the test head from the running surface. A number of testing heads may be attached to linkage elements (4) of a linkage chain (3) around the outside of the running surface.
