[Also in Division B8] Hopper 10, for example, on a railroad truck, discharges material through its bottom, the discharge being controlled by sliding plate 32 which is operated by shaft 36 via the linkage 44, 58 and 52. Thus when shaft 36 is rotated clockwise the plate 32 is drawn rightwards to open the discharge and the linkage takes the position of Fig. 5. Likewise when shaft 36 is driven anticlockwise the links uncoil and extend themselves to move the plate 32 leftwards and thus to close the bottom of hopper 14. Hopper 10 is adapted to be secured to the lower portion of a main hopper. |
