A gear finishing machine comprises means for rotating the tool 2 or work 1 and a controllable additional means for rotating the work or tool. The table 7 carries the workpiece 1 and is angularly adjustable on a slide 38 driven by a motor 36 along guides 35 adjustable angularly on a knee 33. The knee 33 is fed by a cam and/or a screw 8<SP>1</SP> controlled by an electric motor. The hone or shaving cutter 2 is rotated by a motor EM driving through a swashplate or like pump P, a regulating means R1 and an hydraulic motor HM1. The pump also supplies the work-rotating motor HM2 through a regulating device R2. The latter device is controlled by a pick-up 13 measuring the torque on the cutter-spindle, or by the device R1, or by means 18 measuring the load on the tailstock 6, or by means measuring the force associated with the traverse or depth feed. The measuring means may be electric or hydraulic. In a modification, means associated with the electric motor EM regulates the device R2 which is driven by a separate motor and pump. |
