[Also in Division E2] A liner for a safety helmet comprises a shell 1 having studs 5 thereon, a suspension harness including a fixed strap 2 and adjustable straps 3 and spring clips 4 each including a backing plate 8 attached to the harness, a connector portion 10, a bight 11 and a bifurcated portion 12 defining a slot, the backing plate, connector portion, bight and bifurcated portions co-operating to define a stud-head receiving chamber 18 wherein in normal usage the edge of the stud head 7 lies immediately adjacent the bight. As shown, in which the helmet liner suspension harness 2, 3, is detachably connected to studs 5, secured to the helmet sheel 1, by rivets 5a, each stud is snap engageable through the bifurcation 12 so that the head 7 of the stud is located between the plate 8 and the portion 10 and is resiliently retained by bosses 19 depending from the portion 12 in proximity to the plate 8. The clip is secured to the harness by means of an eyelet 22 which passes through openings on the harness and is then crimped over the rim of an aperture in a boss 9 on the plate 8. |
