<p>The active connector has an insulated top plate (2) with contacts on its top surface corresponding to the position of contacts on the card The lower face (6) of the insulated cover plate has a second set of contacts (7) facing downward, to press against contact areas (8) on the read/write controller unit (1). The read/write unit (1) and the insulated top plate (2) are both supported on legs (18 and 9,11 respectively) that hold them above a printed circuit board (15). The supports may be insulated or conductive. The conductive supports provide connection to the printed circuit board for the controller and directly to selected contacts on the card.</p> |
