PURPOSE: A fire extinguishing system is provided to minimize contamination of environment while maximizing fire extinguishing efficiency thereof, and to prevent corrosion and damage thereto. CONSTITUTION: The fire extinguishing system comprises a control unit(20) adapted to open opening/closing valves(30,30') according to fire detection signals from a sensor(10), first and second nitrogen tanks(40,40') for use in extrusion and transfer of nitrogen gas into a distilled water tank(50) and spray nozzles through the valves. In the distilled water tank are received distilled water and a wetting agent. The spray nozzles are constructed to spray a mixture of the distilled water and nitrogen gas, which are mixed inside the nozzles.
