INTRAMYOCARDIAL INJECTION OF AUTOLOGOUS BONE MARROW

Methods are provided for enhancing transfection efficiency of bone marrow cells by transfecting early attaching cells derived from bone marrow in culture. Methods are also provided for utilizing such early attaching cells derived from autologous bone marrow to deliver angiogenesis-promoting transgenes to a patient. The transfected early attaching cells are introduce d into an ischemic tissue, such as the heart, to enhance formation of collater al blood vessels. Methods are also provided for treating ischemic muscle by co- administration of autologous bone marrow cells and RGTA, for example RGTA11.
