The modular system comprises a zenith module (3) formed as a wedged section of a rotationally symmetrical hollow body and having an upper and lower section face (3.5, 3.6) with circular boundary edges (3.4) which span a lower base face and an upper roof face (3.6) which is not parallel to same. A spherically curved cupola module (4) sits rotatably positioned on the upper boundary edge of the zenith module whilst the lower boundary edge of the latter engages rotatable where necessary in a plinth module (2). The plinth module has a closable door segment for access to the observatory.
