1,235,008. Windscreen wipers. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. 2 Dec., 1969 [3 Dec., 1968], No. 58772/69. Heading A4F. A drive mechanism for vehicle windscreen wipers comprises an electric motor 10 which drives a crank 12 via a worm gear the worm wheel 13 of which is rigidly connected to a hollow shaft 14 in which is eccentrically and rotatably mounted a shaft 20 secured at one end to the crank arm 21 and at the other to a plate 23 on which is pivotally mounted a spring actuated pawl 33 co-operating with a shoulder 27 on the hollow shaft 14, e.g. on an annular collar 24 on the latter, and coupling the shafts 14, 20 during the wiping operation, a lever 39 displacing the pawl 33 from the shoulder 27 during the stopping of the drive, so that the hollow shaft 14 moves relatively to the shaft 20 to displace the crank pin 22 radially and take the wipers into parked positions outside the wiping areas. The lever 39 is constituted by an armature actuated by an electromagnet 41 which is de-energized when a switch 51 (Fig. 4, not shown) is opened to stop the wiper motor 10. |
