[Also in Division C2] Octatriene-1,3,7 is obtained as by-product in the preparation of 1-alkoxyoctadienes-2,7 by reacting butadiene with a considerable excess of a primary or secondary alcohol in the presence of a catalyst prepared from a Pd (II) enolate or phenolate and a tertiary phosphine or phosphite, the molar ratio of the phosphine or phosphite to Pd being in the range 3:1 to 1:1. |
