An optical component comprising an optical fiber coil comprised of an optical fiber wound in a coil shape, and a resin surrounding at least the periphery of the optical fiber coil to retain the shape of the optical fiber coil; and a production method of the optical component comprising an optical fiber coil forming step of winding an optical fiber to form an optical fiber coil, and a resin portion forming step of forming a resin around the periphery of the optical fiber coil formed in the optical fiber forming step.
