The sealing device (3) has a sealing ring (5) between two sealing elements (11,13), whereby at least one contour of the sealing elements is constructed as a housing space (15) for the sealing ring. The housing space has an especially rectangular cross section (19), and each of the two sealing elements by at least two of the rectangle sides (21) lies upon the sealing ring. At least one of the sealing elements may have an undercut to increase the housing space. At least one of the sealing elements may have a spur which lies upon the sealing ring.
