The arrangement has an axially movable steering rod, an electric motor with a rotor coaxial to the rod, a threaded drive coupled between the rotor and rod to convert motor rotation into axial rod motion and a ball or roller nut that engages a threaded section of the rod. The ball or roller nut is accommodated in a casing of flexible material, preferably plastic, which has at least one section fixed to the rotor, so as to rotate with it. The arrangement has an axially movable steering rod (3), a stationary electric motor (8) with a rotor (9) coaxial to the steering rod, a ball or roller threaded drive coupled between the rotor and rod to convert motor rotation into axial rod motion and a ball or roller nut (11) that engages a threaded section (12) of the steering rod. The ball or roller nut is accommodated in a casing (14) of flexible material, preferably plastic, which has at least one section fixed to the rotor, so as to rotate with it.
