Hand-guided motor saw comprises a circular saw blade (5) driven by an internal combustion engine (2) via a transmission (4). A cover (6) with lower edges overlapping the circular saw blade has on its front side a right-angled cut-out (7) extending over the longitudinal center of the circular saw blade. The long side limit stop (8) of the cut-out overlaps the periphery of the circular saw blade and forms a tip. An upward-tilting protective cap (9) covers in an overlapping manner the cut-out section of the circular saw blade. Preferred Features: The circular saw blade is screwed onto the transmission which is driven by a ribbed (3) or toothed belt of the internal combustion engine covered by a U-shaped bracket (1).
