An applicator having no ink leakage, suitable for oil-based ink, and maintaining appropriate ink discharge in various use environments, and the applicator can be produced at low cost. The applicator is an automatic raw-ink discharge-type applicator where, when an applying body is held downward, an applying body-side ink circulation passage is provided nearer to the lower side than an ink connection port of an ink storage section, and an ink absorbing body-side circulation passage and an air vent gap, nearer to the upper side than the ink connection port. The ink absorbing body is partitioned from the ink storage section so as to communicate with ink in the ink storage section only by an opening of the ink connection portion. The applicator has a relationship of A<B<C in the ink circulation passages, where the density of the rear part of the ink absorbing body-side circulation passage is A, the density of the front part of the ink absorbing body-side circulation passage is B, and the density of the applying body-side ink circulation passage is C.
