BALLOON CONSTRUCTION FOR OCCLUSION DEVICE

A balloon catheter construction is disclosed wherein bands (506, 508) are used to mechanically attach a balloon (504) to a catheter shaft (502). The bands provide a mechanical seal that secures the balloon to the catheter shaft without the use of an adhesive and prevents fluid loss from the interior of the balloon. Fillets (572, 574) may be provided at the ends of the balloon and band to provide a smooth transition region between the shaft and the balloon for facilitating advancement through a blood vessel.
