The device has an oil filling collar (3) arranged over an opening (1) provided in a base of an oil filling pan (2). The collar projects into the interior of the pan. A filling pipe (5) is releasably attached to the collar, where a free end (6) of the pipe represents an overflow opening (7). The pipe and collar can be are engaged with each other and the opening determines a defined level of oil. An Independent claim is also included for an oil pan containing the filling device.
