Apparatus for injection moulding a socket 14 for a hypodermic syringe comprises a male mould B co-operating with a female mould A which is provided with a hole to receive a hypodermic needle 10, and an adjustable softsurfaced needle-supporting member 7. The tail end of the needle 10 is received in a frustoconical recess 13 (Fig. 2) in the end of the male mould B. A concentric groove 12 facilitates degassing of the moulding material. The pressure of the support 7 on the needle point can be adjusted by a screwed plug 4. The needle may have a peripheral groove 11a or rib 11b (Fig. 3-II, not shown). |
