1,128,892. Incandescent gas fires; apparatus for heating air and water. F. A. VAN DE ROER. 6 Jan., 1966 [7 Jan., 1965], No. 701/66. Headings F4A and F4W. In a space and water heater, the back and side walls 4 and (5) respectively, of a metal casing 1 defining a combustion chamber, are in contact with a plurality of spaced vertical water pipes 11 connected to ring pipes 12 and 13 surrounding the casing. A plurality of hair-pin water pipes 14 are connected to ring pipe 13 and lead into a header (15), the pipes 14 being interconnected by metallic fins 16. Water for heating is supplied to the pipe 12 and the heated water is drawn from the header (15). Gas burners 3, located within the casing 1, are used to heat the water pipes, via the casing 1, and also a series of incandescent elements 10, resting on bearer edges 8, which then radiate through a heat resistant glass wall 7 into the room. The combustion products, after giving up their heat to the elements 10, pipes 14 and fins 16, enter a chimney aperture 17 which is provided with a downdraught trap 18. |
