FIELD: rolled stock production, possibly joining ends of strips at making steel wide strips in slitting aggregates. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of trimming ends of strips for welding; placing ends to be joined in such a way that they are mutually spaced by distance A = 130 - 150 mm; superimposing from upwards uniformly along width of strips at least three plates; welding said plates with ends of strips by means of contact welding; selecting width C of strips in range 100 - 300 mm; placing terminal plates in such a way that to space them by distance B = 50 - 80 mm from lateral edges of strip with less width.
