Motor has commutator, rotor (1) rotating about rotation axis in the form of armature with an armature winding (2) and a stator (4) enclosing it in the form of a casing for producing a stimulation field as part of a magnetic field (6). The stator forms groove (10) along at least part of the axis of symmetry (9) of the magnetic field that is of lower permeability and/or saturation than the stator. Independent claims are also included for the following: the use of an electric motor in hand-held tools.
