A lighter (10 fig 1) has a body (12 fig 1) comprising a fuel reservoir (22 fig 2), an ignition mechanism within the body, and first and second nozzles 28, 30, fluidly connected to the reservoir. A switch 18 is operatively connected to both the fuel reservoir and the ignition mechanism. Upon manual actuation of the switch the first nozzle generates a first flame 28f, and the second nozzle generates a second flame 30f that intersects the first flame. The flames intersect at a distance "d" above the nozzles, which may be at least centimetre above the body, but preferably between and 5 centimetres. The nozzles may be inclined at an angle "B" of between 5 and 45 degrees, with respect to each other or the axis bisecting the body. The body may also include a ceramic insert (26 fig 4) including a base and sidewall, the base sloping down from the sidewall at an angle ranging from 5 to 45 degrees towards the body axis. The ignition mechanism may include a piezoelectnc device, and the lighter may also include a cigar cutter. |
