Process for the preparation of a thin zeolitic membrane

The production of a zeolitic thin membrane comprises: (a) the formation of a gel or solution comprising a silica source and water with an added polar organic compound; (b) contact of the gel or a solution with a porous support; (c) crystallization of the zeolite; and (d) the elimination of residues. The production of a zeolitic thin membrane comprising a composite zeolite/support layer in which the zeolitic phase has a crystallinity of at least 85% comprises: (a) the formation of a gel or solution comprising a silica source and water with an added polar organic compound; (b) contact of the gel or a solution with a porous support; (c) crystallization of the zeolite; and (d) the elimination of residues. The molar ratio of water to silica in (a) is 27:1-35:1, and in (c) the crystallization time is at least 25 hours. An Independent claim is also included for a membrane obtained by the above process, and its uses.
