1292354 Two part couplings BUNKERRAMO CORP 20 Jan 1970 [28 Jan 1969] 2683/70 Heading H2E In a multi-contact electrical connector (Fig. 1, not shown) each part of which comprises support members 13, 14 having passages containing male contacts 17 or female contacts 18 with insulated conductors secured thereto by crimping, resilient tubular seal members 40 surrounding the insulated conductors are moved into the passages until they are located by co-operating shoulders, the body of each seal member wedging in the space between the conductor insulation and the passage wall to seal the passage, and the shoulder dimensions permitting withdrawal of individual seal members for servicing conductors or contacts. The support member may be polysulphone or rubber, the seal member may be the same or P.T.F.E. and the insulation which may be harder may be P.T.F.E. Members 30, 38 may retain the contacts in position in the passages. The abutting faces 21, 22 of the support have as shown interfitting portions around the passage openings. The shells carrying the support members 13, 14 may be connected by a threaded coupling ring (15) (Fig. 1, not shown). |
