Injection or compression moulded boots or shoes incorporating protective padding (foam) secured to the inside of the uppers, e.g. by stitching or adhesive to the surface or the underside of the liner. The pad may be covered with an abrasion resistant fabric (polyamide) stitched over the pad. Pref. the mould profile is grooved over at least the reinforced zones so as to tend to anchor the pad in position during moulding, and to produce protective moulded ribs on the boot. Esp. for safety or industrial boots moulded with rubber uppers (and soles), makes a less bulky and better looking product than those with protective plates or pads secured to the outside of the boot.
