<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-grade active matrix liquid crystal display element by improving the rubbing uniformity of a comb-shaped electrode substrate. SOLUTION: Treatment is executed by setting the angle of a rubbing roll 1 at 40 deg.C and setting the angle of a feed direction of the substrate 2 at 45 deg. as the rubbing treatment of a first time shown in Fig. (a). The treatment is executed at the angle 10 deg. of the feed direction of the substrate 2 at the angle 5 deg. of the rubbing roll 1 as the rubbing treatment of a second time shown in Fig. (b). The rubbing direction 5 is the same direction in the first time and the second time. As to the unequalness of the stripe form generated by the influence of the deviation of the rubbing cloth, the unequalness of the stripe form is generated toward the progressing direction 6 of the substrate if the rubbing treatment of ordinary standard intensity at a feed rate of the substrate of 20 mm/sec is executed once but such unequalness does not arise when the rubbing treatment of the weak set conditions is executed twice.</p> |
