A pressure switch with a spring-loaded shift mechanism with a spring unit (12), which ensures that the shift mechanism always returns back to the same setting. The spring unit (12) is mounted between the shift mechanism's central lever arm (14) and a fixed support wall (16), which is located tight against the lever arm. The spring unit (12) is principally wedge shaped and compressible at one end. The spring unit (12) is preferably comb-shaped with at least three teeth or 'legs' 121, 122, 123, whereof the middlemost tooth 122 is prestressed in such a way that it forms an angle with its two neighbouring teeth 121, 123. With the shown spring unit a reliable and durable pressure switch is achieved, and the spring unit is easy to mount in several known tangent switches, which as such can be converted to pressure switches if desired.<IMAGE>
