PURPOSE: Mounting structure of an oil gallery and a ring carrier in a piston is provided to improve cooling performance of the piston by reducing the weight of the piston and improving the filling efficiency of oil passing through the oil gallery, and to enable slowishness and capacity reduction of an oil pump. CONSTITUTION: In mounting structure of an oil gallery(30) and a ring carrier(40) in a piston(20), the outer peripheral surface(34) of a pipe(32) with the oil gallery is welded to the inner peripheral surface of the ring carrier and then the body of the piston is cast. Thus, the contact surface area of the outer peripheral surface of the pipe and the inner peripheral surface of the ring carrier is widened. The inner peripheral surface of the ring carrier is inclined upward around the middle part. A ring groove(42), into which the piston ring is fitted, is formed to the inner peripheral surface of the ring carrier.
