PURPOSE: A recliner for a vehicle is provided to repress the generation of clearance and prevent wrong engagement by symmetrically inserting and fixing two lock gears between a cam and a lower operating member and by engaging the lock gears into a circular internal gear, to reduce the number of parts by simplifying the structure and assembling time, and to cut down manufacturing cost. CONSTITUTION: A recliner for a vehicle comprises an upper operating member(20), a lower operating member(30), an operating cam(60), and first and second lock gears(40,50). The upper operating member is connected and fixed with a lower fixing piece connected to a seat fixing base for fixing the seat and is composed of first and second supporting members(23,24) for housing and supporting the cam and the first and second lock gears symmetrized with centering on a shaft and operating pin guide grooves(22,34) formed at the inside. The lower operating member is confronted to the upper operating member and fixed to an upper fixing piece for fixing a backrest seat. The operating cam is inserted between the upper and lower operating members by a fixing shaft(70). The first and second lock gears are formed with an external gear(41), first supporting member contact surfaces, second supporting member contact surfaces, first cam contact surfaces, and second cam contact surfaces and are inserted and fixed between the lower operating member and the operating cam. The first and second lock gears lock or release the lower operating member by the rotation of the operating cam.
