PURPOSE: Provided are an isothiazolone composition and a method for stabilizing isothiazolone. The isothiazolone composition is used as a antibacterial agent stably in an emulsion solution, and thus effectively inhibits the growth of microorganisms. CONSTITUTION: An isothiazolone composition is characterized by containing 3-isothiazolone compound of the formula(1), alkali metal nitrate salt, alkali metal chloride salt, sodium chlorite and a solvent. In the formula, R1 and R2 are independently a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a C1-C4 alkyl group or a cyclized aryl group; and R3 is a hydrogen atom, a C1-C18 alkly group, a C2-C18 alkenyl group, a C2-C18 alkyl group, a 3-8 membered ring of C3-C12 cycloalkyl group, C10-C24 aralkyl group or a C10-C24 aryl group.
