PURPOSE: A method for transmitting a caller ID in a communication system is provided to transmit calling party user information from a calling terminal to a receiving terminal. CONSTITUTION: The first terminal(200) transmits a channel request message to a network(210) according to the user's key input to attempt a call. The network(210) transmits a channel allocation message to the first terminal(200). The first terminal(200) transmits a setup message to the network(210). The network(210) transmits a paging message to the second terminal(220). The second terminal(220) transmits a channel request message to the network(210). The network(210) transmits a channel allocation message to the second terminal(220). Then the network(210) transmits a setup message, including calling party user information contained in the channel request message of the first terminal(200), to the second terminal(220). The second terminal(220) transmits a call confirmed message and an alerting message to the network(210). After transmitting the paging message to the second terminal(220), the network(210) transmits a call proceeding message to the first terminal(200) until the alerting message is inputted from the second terminal(220). The second terminal(220) transmits a call connection message to the network(210) according to the user's call connection key input. The network(210) transfers the call connection message to the first terminal(200). In response to the call connection message, the first terminal(200) transmits a connection acknowledge message to the network(210). As the network(210) transmits the connection acknowledge message to the second terminal(220), the call between the two terminals(200,220) is made.
