When the handle 3a is moved to a release position at which it may be locked by a catch a hollow valve stem 54 is seated at 59 the latter lifting from a seat 59<SP>1</SP> to allow fluid pressure to pass from a reservoir 63 through release line 61, past check valves 64, 65 and line 6 to the chamber 5<SP>1</SP> of the spring brake actuator to release the latter. Since air also flows into chamber 34 piston 13 is moved upwardly so that check valve 8 is closed to shut off the defective pipe 27. |
