<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high performance and low cost disk array device which ensures high reliability by synchronizing the cache memory of a disk array controller and the cache memory of a magnetic disk drive with respect to the loss of write-back dirty data. <P>SOLUTION: A disk array controller 3 is provided with a first cache memory 23 in which write data from a host machine 1 to a plurality of magnetic disk drives 3 are temporarily stored, and each of the plurality of magnetic disk drives 3 is provided with a second cache memory 32.
