PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the interruption of a write request, etc., from a host computer so that when a storage controller performs a process for backup, etc., the process is not interrupted as to a control method for the storage controller which is connected to a host computer through a communication means and receives a data input/output request sent from the host computer and performs a data input/output process complying with the request. SOLUTION: The storage controller when performing a process in which the data input/output request that the host computer sends needs to be controlled sends a message informing the host computer of the start of execution of the process and executes the process after receiving a reply message to the message.
