<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a large capacity of an optical disk by a disk format of high-format efficiency and reducing interlayer crosstalks in a multilayer disk, by providing a disk formatting means and recording and reproducing method which can be applied to a land groove recording method having a plurality of recording layers. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical disk, constituted of one or multi-layered recording layers equipped with land areas L and groove areas G as recording tracks, a data-recording area of at least one recording layer is split into a plurality of zones. In each zone of a plurality of split zones, header areas formed with pre-pits furnished with prescribed information are disposed at each two boundary parts of the land areas L and the adjacent groove areas G in the proximity of boundary parts, wherein one or the plurality of land areas L and the groove areas G are disposed in one track circle.
