PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a means for improving insertion loss of an SAW (surface acoustic wave) device. SOLUTION: The SAW device is constituted so that the plane shape of a recessed portion formed on a rectangular package is made into a parallelogram, the short side direction of the recessed portion is made to be parallel to the short side direction of the package, and an SAW device element, in which a plurality of IDT (interdigital transducer) electrodes or a plurality of IDTs with a plurality of grating reflectors are provided on the main surface of a parallelogram piezoelectric substrate, is housed.
