PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make maintainable and improvable the performance of access to a record even if the amount of data, etc., increases. SOLUTION: When an application issues an instruction to an index file A, index keys 11a-1 to 11n-n in respective index blocks 11a to 11n of an index part 10 are referred to in order from the top layer. When the index key 11n-1 in the bottom-layer index block 11n is finally referred to, data 21-1 of a data part 20 are acquired from the index key 11n-1 and further a counter block 12n-1 of the index key 11n-1 is referred to. When the count value of the counter block 12n-1 is increased by one, it is judged whether the constitution items of an initial setting file meet conditions respectively and when all the items meet the conditions, a direct key 13a is prepared by the top layer index block 11a.
