PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fully cool a semiconductor laser in a short time for an optical disk device for recording/reproducing records by using an optical pickup device by irradiating lights from a semiconductor laser. SOLUTION: During recording/reproducing, an optical pickup device 12 moves to a retreating position placed on an outer side of a range of motion for the recording/reproducing, a housing 10 of the pickup device 12 and a thermal conductive body 31 composed of carbon sheets and attached to a main chassis 21 become in surface contact, and a semiconductor laser 1 is thermally coupled with the main chassis 21 so as to be cooled. Accordingly, the semiconductor laser 1 can be cooled extensively in a short laser suspending time interval, and the deterioration due to increasing of temperature of the semiconductor laser 1 can be suppressed.
