PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control system for processing access requests from a host device by file units cooperatively among a plurality of storage device configuring a storage device sub-system in which redundant data are held. SOLUTION: This storage device comprising a storage device sub-system is provided with a means for executing access request processing by file units from a host device and the update processing of redundant data accompanied with the access requests. Furthermore, the storage device is provided with a means for storing position information and access history information on the recording medium for each file stored by itself, and for executing the rearrangement of storage regions under an arbitrary condition.
